Loft 620 Wedding, Manhattan NYC | Rachel & Vinny

Rachel and Vinny’s 620 Loft & Garden wedding felt deeply personal, and it is genuinely one of those days I know I will never forget. As their New York City wedding photographer, I had the honor of documenting an intimate January elopement with only eight guests, followed by dinner sixty floors above Manhattan at Manhatta.

Originally, they planned to marry at Stone Mill Inn, the Pennsylvania wedding venue owned by Rachel’s family. After learning they were expecting, they moved the wedding forward and planned something much more intimate. Every part of the day stayed focused on what mattered most: becoming husband and wife with their closest family beside them.

Getting Ready at Lotte New York Palace

Eugene, our videographer, and I arrived in Manhattan around sunrise. It was unbelievably cold, the kind of cold that makes your fingers and nose burn within minutes. Outside, New York was moving with its usual rush-hour energy.

Everything became calm as soon as we entered Lotte New York Palace.

Rachel and Vinny got ready in a large king suite separated by a single door. She spent the morning with her mother and sister, mother-in-law & sister-in-law who had flown in from Brazil to be there for the wedding. Just across the doorway, Vinny was getting ready with his father, brother, and Rachel’s dad.

Large windows overlooked the city, and we could even see 620 Loft & Garden from their floor.

We began with Rachel’s dress, veil, shoes, purse, and rings, using the suite and city views to make every image feel connected to Manhattan. Rachel prepared cards and gifts for her family, danced the jitters away, and later gave her mom a gift that quickly ended in tears.

Once she was dressed, I created a mix of naturally lit portraits and direct-flash images before photographing Vinny next door. He is much quieter than Rachel and was a little shy in front of the camera, but has the sweetest smile. His calm and joyful personality complements Rachel’s bubbly, outgoing nature so well.

Rachel also shared a first look with her dad. First looks are not normally her thing, but her dad sees hundreds of weddings each year through his venue and truly wanted that moment with his daughter. She gave him a small gift, and they had a few quiet minutes together before leaving for the ceremony.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at 620 Loft & Garden

Rachel saved her first look with Vinny for the aisle. As she walked toward him, she tried to breathe through her emotions while Vinny wiped away tears.

Their dog, Stella, became visibly excited the moment she saw Rachel. Family members stood together on the rooftop surrounded by snow, Midtown buildings, and the unmistakable view of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Everyone was freezing, but you would never know it from the photographs. Their joy completely overtook the cold.

For such a small celebration, their 620 Loft & Garden wedding felt especially centered on what a wedding is meant to be. There was no extra fluff or pressure to entertain a large room. Nobody had side quests. Every person was fully present, and the attention remained on Rachel and Vinny.

After they were pronounced husband and wife, everyone stepped inside to warm up, take a couple photos with Stella, sign the marriage license and quickly take all of their family formals.

Wedding Portraits at Rockefeller Center and Fifth Avenue

We photographed the family with St. Patrick’s Cathedral behind them before everyone returned indoors. Rachel and Vinny stayed outside with us for more rooftop portraits.

Rachel’s shoes were soaked from the snow, her nose was red from the cold, and somehow she still made the entire thing look effortless.

We continued near the Rockefeller Center ice-skating rink before making one final stop along Fifth Avenue. Rachel was already shivering, and we almost skipped it. I told her, “Rachel, we have to do this. Just one more time. I promise it will be worth it.”

It was.

Yellow taxis passed behind them while St. Patrick’s Cathedral rose in the distance, and we created one of my favorite photographs from the day. It looked like it belonged on a magazine cover.

I'll keep waiting for Vogue's phone call. In the meantime, you can enjoy them -

Moments like this are why I pay close attention to the environment and possibilities around us, even when a particular portrait was not part of the original plan. I knew the location had the potential to give Rachel and Vinny something iconic, and I am so glad they trusted me enough to step into the cold one more time.

Intimate Manhatta Wedding Reception

From Rockefeller Center, we traveled downtown to Manhatta for their cocktail hour and reception. Their private room sat on the sixtieth floor, surrounded by enormous windows overlooking New York City.

Small floral centerpieces added touches of green throughout the room without competing with the skyline. Family chatted over sliders and miniature lobster rolls before sitting down for dinner.

Heartfelt toasts followed the meal. Rachel’s dad spoke first, then Vinny’s brother gave a speech that brought Vinny and his parents to tears. Rachel sat beside him with her hands on his shoulders as he listened.

Her sister shared a few words next, and Rachel later surprised her mother by gifting her the bridal bouquet.

Wedding Dances and Editorial Portraits at Manhatta

Rachel and Vinny shared a quiet first dance in front of the windows with the city glowing behind them. Rachel danced with her dad, and Vinny had a dance with his mom.

Nothing about these moments felt performative. There was no packed dance floor or large audience watching them. Their closest family members simply stood nearby while they experienced each part of the evening together.

After cutting their cake, we moved into the bar area for a final set of portraits. Soft light poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, giving us the perfect setting for a few Vogue-inspired photographs before ending the day.

Even with only eight total guests (including Rachel & Vinny), this 620 Loft & Garden wedding felt complete. It was full of emotion without ever feeling overproduced, and the focus never moved away from the couple.

Rachel’s parents had seen me photograph multiple weddings at their Stone Mill venue and told her they wanted the best photographer for their daughter. Knowing they had seen hundreds of photographers work at their property and still chose me is something I will always feel deeply humbled by.

To this day I do not have the right words to explain how honored I felt to be chosen. By the end of the day, Eugene and I no longer felt like outside vendors. For this very special winter wedding day in New York City, we felt like part of their family.
